Diaper Bag Checklist Newborns & Beyond|Pride & Joy Baby PlannersCongratulations on your Pride & Joy! You have a new baby and now an outing with your baby. What are you going to take with you? If you could you would probably not take anything at all or maybe everything just in case. Either way, you need to make sure that you have what you need.

When packing your diaper bag, there are the basics and then there are things you should take in account such as where you are going, how long are you planning to be out and the weather. Being prepared is goal of having the diaper bag. Here is the checklist of what should be in your diaper bag.

Must Haves:

  • if you are formula feeding:2 bottles, sterilized water, formula (should be pre-measured and be in the bottle to cut time), depending on how long you will be out you may want to have more then 2 bottles
  • if you are breastfeeding: nursing cover, breast pads
  • 1-receiving blankets
  • 2 burp cloths
  • 5-7 diapers for baby
  • wipes
  • changing pad (some already come with the diaper bag)
  • snacks for you, especially if you are breastfeeding
  • water a must if you are breastfeeding
  • 2 extra sets of clothes for baby- just in case (in a Ziploc bag)
  • an extra shirt for you- just in case happens all over your shirt (in a Ziploc bag)
  • 2-pacifiers
  • sanitizer
  • reusable bag for soiled clothes or diapers if needed

 As Needed Basis

  • diaper cream
  • medicine for baby (prescription, teething tablets, etc.)
  • camera

Safety Bag (this can be in one Ziploc bag that can removed and stashed in the car)

  • Pain reliever/fever reducer for baby
  • band aids
  • hand sanitizer
  • ointment cream
  • tissues
  • Or simple first aid kit

Seasonal Items

  • sunblock
  • hat
  • blanket

Older babies (6 months & up)

  • favorite toy
  • favorite book for baby
  • jarred food & spoon
  • cup/ drink
  • snacks
  • teething ring (check out chewbeads)
  • 3-4 bibs

For Mom/Dad

  • lip balm
  • sunglasses
  • money
  • keys
  • book/magazine
  • cell phone
  • gum/mints
